Round Market

Round Market

There is the unusual Round Market, (which is actually oval in shape) built by James Cranston in 1858 near the junction of Market Street and Church Street. Originally called the Butter Market it was built to enable farmers’ wives to sell their butter and poultry inside, with walls to keep out the winds and rain. Market Days are on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, when there’s always a bargain to be had.
